An okay fantasy ending to the book series but I personally think that it was rushed and the plot didn't make sense at some parts. Such as who is Sword Arms? All we know about his personality is that he is obsessed at fighting Merlin and killing children. The main villain (Rhita Gawr) doesn't at all have a personality, a spirit warlord of few words. In the continuing different series called Avalon, Rhita Gawr is more developed and there is a sense of urgency. The same sense of urgency is here except that the bulk of the novel is about fighting Sword Arms. And when you get to the ending you will vaguely recollect that the main point was to enlist all the creatures of Fincayra in the (somewhat) epic battle.
Merlin does NOTHING at all to enlist the people's help. He leaves it to his friends while he goes searching for Sword Arms. At least let us know how Rhiannon, Shim, Hallia, Cairpre, Elen, Merlin's shadow, and others got the creatures of Fincayra together again. Because all the creatures are suspicious of other races because of a past wrong.
