The sequel to the Rowan and the Travelers is truly the sequel.

Rowan and the Travelers

Long time ago I read a dumb story of Rowan of Rin. I quit 5 pages afterward. Though later on I was still wondering of the story so I got it. Then I was dragged in the cycle of a loser boy named Rowan who is an oddity in a made-up fantasy world . He lives in Rin and after his first quest he is now facing another seemingly mysterious happening in Rin...

The story is about the people of Rin trying to protect their Mountain Berries from the Travelers (a group of people who wander around the world, coming once a year to Rin) because they want to get the profits for themselves only. The story keeps on getting plot twists and discoveries that when you finish the book, you will think twice of the power of greed...

I recommend it for beginners or people who like fantasy, mystery, and adventure mixed in.

The Great Tree of Avalon #1: The Child of the Dark Prophecy

Hoo boy, this is a great nature epic story of Avalon a Great Tree that is so big that it is like the size of the Earth. It is true that Merlin planted the seed that started the tree, and he is of course the greatest wizard of all times.

Fast Forward: Avalon Year 985: A great stellar eclipse has happened and a prophecy dictated long ago about a child who will be born in this year who will bring the end of Avalon. Also the true heir of Merlin is going to be born in this year who might save Avalon. The powers of the children will come when they are at the age of seventeen...

Fast Forward...Again: Present Day Avalon Year 1002
Tamwyn (a half-flameon, half-human) and Scree (an eagleman) two foster brothers in the realm of FireRoot, both are seventeen and on a fateful day when they were both ten they were seperated from each other. Now Tamwyn is a homeless wilderness guide who is trekking in Stoneroot trying to find his brother.

In Stoneroot

apprentice third class priestess is joined with her hated foe Lylnia (human) and her maryth, the tree spirit Fairlyn. Elli also has a maryth, a pinnacle spirit Nuic. Soon all of them (Scree, Tamwyn, Elli, Lylnia, and the maryths) are going to go on an epic journey to find the true heir of Merlin and on the way to destroy the child of the Dark Prophecy.

Sounds intruiging doesn't it? This great tree has seven roots or realms, kind of like continents. That are home to many creatures to not only humans! The seven realms are Woodroot, Waterroot, Stoneroot, Mudroot, Airroot, Fireroot, and Shadowroot. A very happy story with lots of enjoyable creatures. My favorite is Tamwyn then Henni Hoolah.

How to eat fried worms

A very hilarious story of a boy named Billy who is dared to bet with a boy that he can eat 15 worms, one worm each day and win $50, enough to buy a bike of his liking.
He can do anything to the worm like putting loads of ketchup and mustard or frying the worm. The only thing he cannot do is to chop it up, he as to eat a big piece of the worm whenever the knife touches the worm (usually it would be a night crawler.

If you think it through, you might be tempted to take the bet and win a total of $50! The only problem is that two determined people are hatching plot after plot to get Billy to fail the bet. Will Billy succeed or will he be fearing and "worming" in his shoes.

Eragon

An epic story riddled with many elements needed to make a story and enjoyable story.
It is about a continent named Alagaesia a continent filled with evil as a corrupt king named King Galbatorix takes the reigns of power from the Rider. The Riders are people who can live infinitely and with their trusty friends the dragons they give peace and harmony to Alagaesia. This may sound like a corny story, I thought so too but the story kept on adding and subtracting details so it would at the end of the story be a bit confusing.
There are 3 main races, the elves, the humans, and the dragons. The elves were the superior beings to all, save the mighty dragons. There is a story of how the Riders originated but I won't be telling that.
So the real story is how a farm boy who finds a dragon egg and inadvertently revives the legacy of the Riders. The boy about to reach manhood named Eragon is a clever and trustworthy boy, who names his dragon Saphira. Together with their mentor Brom they travel from place to place to find out and kill the people who killed Eragon's uncle. Obviously that wouldn't make a good story so Eragon is sucked into a political conflict between the Varden, a rebel group and the Empire ruled by King Galbatorix. Brings memories of the 2nd trilogy of Star Wars doesn't it (Luke Skywalker = Eragon, Empire = Empire, Rebels = Varden, Obi-Wan = Brom, Planets = Villages,Towns,Cities, Darth Sidious = King Galbatorix. I could go on and on with this list) you might think that the author was thinking of Star Wars while writing this story.
A memorable story, 'Nuff said.

The First Two Lives of Lukas-Kasha

This is an extraordinary story of a boy who goes into his second life into 1400 Persia! There he is greeted as a king of a place called Abadan. The whole point of this story was how to stop the war between Abadan and Bishangar. Bishangar is a place overridden with jewels and diamonds of all sorts. Abadan is an agricultural sort of place. These two countries were at peace till an evil king in Abadan declared war. So after a few generations. Lukas (known as Kasha here in Abadan) stumbles across the prospect of being king. But a Grand Vizier and a General of the Armed Forces are determined to stop him and destroy Bishangar. The plot thickens with so many villains and heroes.
The ending was so sad and I knew that I liked to have Lukas to stay at Persia with his real friends like the Bishangari girl named Nur-Jehan and Kayim a public versifier. The story ends with Lukas-Kasha embarking on his third life. The book was very enjoyable and if you don't read it, it is a crime.
*From now on if I really like it then my signature Mustachio Man will be closer to the last line in the blog. If I hate it then it will be farther away, as if I want to escape the horridness.

Children of the Red King: Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy

There really nothing new to the story, other than the plot and a few new characters. The story is about Charlie meeting a boy named Ollie Sparks who is as you can guess from the title-is invisible! So he and his 8 friends try to rescue him. A few new attachments to the series is the family tree of how the evil Bloors and the vicious Yewbeams are connected. They are not their for show it is vital to the story itself. There are many secrets in this episode of Charlie's life. I can begin to guess who his father, Lyell is, all I can tell is that he is a very good musician player, that is an important clue. There is also a secret revealed about the Joneses-Charlie's mother side-and how it connects with Charlie being a wizard. This book is very good transition to future books of the real battle between the good children of the Red King and evil children of the Red King fight, no matter which generation they are in.
The 8 friends of Charlie Bone (really 6 were helpful in this book). In order of when he got them
Benjamin-A normal human, was (is) Charlie's best friend. Helps Charlie to know what things were going on when he isn't at home. Went to Hong Kong with his parents, so isn't in this book.
Fidelio- A student at Bloor's Academy. Unendowed. Helps when in panic situations. Has a good sense of humor. Doesn't help that much, due to his music concerts, in this book.
Olivia- Unendowed. A drama student who is clumsy, but very loyal. Sometimes helps in critical situations. Could help Charlie to find out gossip and explorative.
Gabriel- A musical student at Bloor's Academy. Endowed. Has the power to tell about the person, if he is wearing the articles of clothing of that person. This is how Charlie knew his dad wasn't dead.
Billy Raven- Endowed. Has the power to talk to animals. An orphan. Was a friend in the beginning of the first book. In the previous two books he was a traitor, but later regretted it and became Charlie's friend.
Lysander- An African student who goes to Bloor's Academy. Endowed. Very powerful. Has the power to call upon his spirit ancestors. Has an equally powerful rival and friend to Tancred for as long as he remembers.
Tancred- A student at Bloor's Academy. Endowed. Has the power to bring storms and weather disasters. Very loyal and resourceful. Though he has temper problems.
Emma- A student at Bloor's Academy. Endowed. Has the power to fly and turn into a bird, real or imaginative. Was hypnotized in the first book, later became a good friend to Charlie.

Those are the eight. Here is Charlie himself.
Charlie Bone- A musical student at Bloor's Academy. Helpful and kind. Sincere and brave. Endowed. Has the power to go into paintings/pictures and bring something from that picture. He can also listen to the voices inside the photo. Sometimes giving light to the mysteries.

Children of the Red King: Charlie and the Time Twister

In this book, Charlie has to rescue his great-great grand uncle, Henry Yewbeam. Henry Yewbeam is not
like other Yewbeams because he and his brother are not endowed with special abilities. I couldn't believe that
more than 300 pgs. were spent trying to look for Henry who came through time with a magic marble known as
the Time Twister. I wasn't bored overall, though some parts left me grouchy but I persevered and finished the
book with happiness luckily. Other than the story the flow of the story was the same as the last book.

his family. He learns many unforgettable events of his friends and enemies.
With the end of the book comes more questions and mysteries. Through it all

Attack of the Mutant Underwear

A very funny book about a child's life at an early stage. The title has nothing to do with the story itself. It the book talks about Cody Lee Carson who is trying to impress his peers and everyone around him. He wants to make new friends and avoid disasters like in his old school. Friends who turn into enemies turning back into friends again is just one of many complexities Cody has to face in his new setting. He does many wacky things just to for the fun of it or just to be kind. Cody loves a girl and hates Zack (at the end) is also just an example of the many emotions running amok.

When the book was over I was dejected because the story was so original with the diary entries of Cody Lee Carson.

Hope you enjoy it

Chernowitz!

This book is a sure fire way to win a guy.

The book is really all about this Jewish kid named Bobby Cherno who is facing a bully who is making his life miserable. Turning his friends against him and making him feel like an outcast.
Then he fights back with equal force and retaliation.
Doing anything to get Emmett Sundback out of his life and down in the dumps forever.
At the end Bobby realizes something (I won't tell) and accepts it. He knows that there is a better future in the future

The Gospel According To Larry

This book will probably not appeal to many because of the author and the author's interview. The author who made this book exclaimed that the story is actually "true." Of all the authors I am disgusted with this one would win the Nobel Peace Prize for the Cheapest. The author makes you think that there really was a boy named Josh Swensen who is a super-genius. He is smart but for sure he doesn't have common sense. Thomas Paine would just spit at the stupidity of this horrible so-called story.

*For one, the idiot, Josh Swensen tries to teach people what he thinks of life. The arrogance astounds me into limbo.

Now you are itching to know what the story I was contradicting. Well here it is.
There is a boy named Josh Swensen who is also known as Larry, and alter-ego in his computer life. The moron says that he wants to help mankind (so do we all, especially me) and says that to help, you must contribute ideas, not technology or anything like that. I somewhat agree with him, because ideas are the roots which you must water so you can pluck its fruits later on in life. Though without technology, ideas have nowhere to go or inhabit so that part about Josh I hate. So the whole core is that this genius (he acts "modest" about it) makes a computer website stating all his ideas or sermons as he calls it. He then did something stupid as to make it known and posted a few of his possesions so people can guess who he is. Then the kid doesn't want to be known by the public (then why did he posted a few of his possesions to make the public guess his appearance?). The story is riddled with romance, idiocy, mystery, faith, and let us not forget, ideas.

I wouldn't recommend this book at all.

The Hamster of the Baskervilles. A Chet Gecko Mystery

This is one of my favorite series of all time. Ever since my 4Th-grade teacher introduced it to me, I tentatively read some books and saw I cherished it so much. Now this mystery was the last one I finished in the saga.
The mystery is about someone or something that was wrecking the Emerson Hicky Elementary School.
It is up to Chet to find it out before it does anymore damage, not to mention the dozen donuts if he captures the violater.
This series focuses on the comedy and the mystery at the same time. There are countless wisecracks and similes relating to animals that it will make you giggle with delight. The names are also funny, look at this example: Erik Nidd, now say it really fast and you will say Arachnid. So the creature (and bully) is spider.
Chet Gecko is a funny delinquent who hates studying and enjoys bringing criminals to justice..for a fee of course.
His mockingbird partner Natalie Attired uses her brains and little of her detecting skills to assist Chet.
The mystery takes many turns and phases that you might get confused when you find out who the culprit is!

Love Among the Walnts, Or: How I Saved My Family from Being Poisoned

This is my favorite book by far. It is very eccentric and quirky but you will come to enjoy it if you have the patience to go through the whole book. Oh and a side note is that don't trust the back of the book because some parts are inaccurate.

The whole story as you can tell from the title is about Alexander Huntington-Ackerman also known as Sandy (for some odd reason) tries to save his family from being poisoned (actually they're in comas). In doing so he finds himself in Walnut Manor where there are supposed to be nuts and psychos. Though Sandy doesn't find them nutty at all, instead it is because of them that he saved Walnut Manor from a personal enemy and rescued his parents.

The book will ease you in the daily lives of the psychos and Sunnie (a nurse-maid, Sandy is in love with). When you finish the book, you will be sad because the secondary characters and the main characters were so tied together that they conquered their foes.

The Villains are the Board of Directors (people in charge of Walnut Manor) and Bart and Bernie (brothers of Sandy's father)

Secondary characters are the Psychos, I'll list them

Virgil and Lyle- People who are addicted to T.V
Graham- An obese teenager
Mr. Moreland-An amnesia ridden person
Captain Lester-A mute rich person, who has squabbles with his rich rival Mr. Moreland (He is not a captain but a businessman)
Eddy- A person who doesn't feel like moving

Main Characters:
Sandy-Son of Horatio and Mousey; kind and faithful
Sunnie- A nursemaid who loves her job
Bentley- Amazing chemist and butler
Horatio-One of the top Richest Men in the world; is kind and helpful
Mousey- A horrible play actress, but still loves her job; she is a loyal and kind wife and mother
Opal-Cranky nursemaid

Sandy learns that sometimes even if you were brought up in an eccentric and rich family, there are still things you can learn about from people you once regarded as idiots

Sleeping Freshman Never Lie

This story is very pleasing because, it is believable and it can help in real life. It also shows insights of what might happen and the reason you will enjoy it, is because the main character faces all sort of dilemmas ranging from the bullies to the school play.

The main character is Scott Hudson who is a freshman in Zenger High. Where the social standings are this:

Most power-Seniors
Next-Juniors
Third to last-Sophomores
Last and the least- Freshman

So as Scott tries to survive high school, he learns that he is going to get a new sibling and decides to make a guide to survive high school.

Giving entries of gym, classes, girlfriends, the social standings (see above), and the teachers/bullies/bus drivers.

In these charming entries he tries to hate is sibling, but at the end he accepts and forgives some of the insults he put towards his sibling.

As Scott tries to cope with is new life, he loses friends and makes new ones out of the oddest places.

Moreover, he is trying to win the heart of his buddy in kindergarten, now lost forever to the depths of high school. While he is trying to do that, he gets dragged into extracurricular activities, adding more stress to his stinky freshman life.

This is a humorous tale of a life of a freshman, from dilemmas to friendship. Scott Hudson has it all!
