Penalty Shot by Matt Christopher

All you hockey lovers will crave this book!
It is about a kid named Jeff Connors who has personal troubles of his own.
First it was his horrible grade in English and he got kicked out of the team because grades always comes first.
Then he found out that his best friend received a horrible note, personally destroying their friendship.
Jeff is an amazing player and he gets help from the most unlikely people to help him achieve his weaknesses.
In the book there are a lot of pieces of action of hockey that will make you wish you were there.
The only part I didn't like was the ending, it ruined the fun feel of the book's emanation of glory in hockey.
There are other books like these, always presenting a personal problem tying into the sport the main character excels in.

Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Secret Pitch

This amazing story is really just 10 mysteries that you have to solve. Even if you hate mysteries and wish you would have read a magical adventure, this one will absolutely make you change your mind.

Some cases are easy and some cases are hard, it all depends on the reader. Though in my opinion the easiest case was the Hungry Hitchhiker one. The hardest was the Ambushed Cowboy.

The illustrations were top notch for a really old book (it was published in 1965) It is actually sketchs and you can see all the character's emotions.

The story revolves around a teenager in sneakers who take on the hardest cases in Ideville. How does he do it? Well he was named Encyclopedia because he read so many facts and he could remember them all for his cases. His real name is Leroy Brown but noone calls him that, save his teachers and his parents.

You will love the book and its sequels
